• School and college visits

Our team regularly visit institutions in the UK to talk to students about higher education. We are also able to arrange for groups of students to visit the University to see our facilities.

  • Our presentations last between 20 and 60 minutes and cover a range of topics, such as:

    • Introduction to higher education
Benefits of going to university, courses on offer, and how it differs to school and college. (45 mins)

    • Study skills
A selection of 20 minute workshops covering topics such as revision techniques, independent learning and note taking. These can be delivered combined, but we recommend focusing on one or two topics.

    • Choosing a course and university
How to narrow down the choices to a manageable number, and how university courses differ. (30 mins - 1 hour)

    • Why Brookes?
An insight into what it is like to study at Oxford Brookes University and information about the courses, support services and facilities available to students. (20 mins)

    • Applying to university
A general overview of how to navigate the UCAS system, usually linked with writing personal statements. (20 mins)

    • Writing personal statements
How to prepare for and write personal statements. Includes dos and don'ts, advice on structure and tips from admissions tutors. Can be delivered as a talk, or an interactive workshop. (45 mins)

    • Student finance
Highlights the support available to students from loans, scholarships and bursaries, as well as providing advice on the student finance process. (30 mins)

    • Student life
An insight into student life from the perspective of a current student. Covers topics such as accommodation, social life, societies, sports and studies. (30-45 mins)

    • Vocational progression routes
Introduces students to alternative routes into higher education; studying for a degree level qualification while gaining relevant and valuable work experience. (30 mins)

All talks can be adapted and delivered in combination to meet your requirements. Our talks are impartial and are designed to help students make the most of their options, although we are happy to talk specifically about Oxford Brookes if you wish. They are particularly useful for year 12 or first year college students considering going on to higher education. We are also happy to give talks to parents and guardians.

If you would like us to attend your higher education or careers fair, we will do our best to send a representative from our team.

Throughout the year we attend numerous careers and higher education events at schools and colleges in the UK. Our team can talk to students and their families about higher education and the courses that we offer at Oxford Brookes. We are happy to staff a stall and/or deliver talks during your event.

If you would like us to attend your event, please complete our online expression of interest form or email schools.liaison@brookes.ac.uk.

We also attend national UCAS Exhibitions where you can meet representatives from the University and find out more information about the courses we offer. See the UCAS website for more information.

If you would like to visit Oxford Brookes with a school or college group, we can arrange for groups of students to visit the University to experience life on campus. The programme of the day can be tailored to suit your requirements and often includes a campus tour led by a current undergraduate student and one of the presentations listed above.

To arrange a visit, please email schools.liaison@brookes.ac.uk, and we will do you best to accommodate your request.

If you have a student who would like to visit as an individual, they can book on to a campus tour here.
