    Our Schools and Colleges Liaison Team offer a wide range of presentations, talks and workshops about higher education. Aimed at teachers, prospective students and their families, they are available throughout the year.

    We can adapt the workshops (listed below) to suit your requirements and your audience.

    Introduction to Higher Education

    This covers how higher education differs to school or college.  And the benefits of going to university and what courses are on offer.

    Study skills

    Three different sessions available, topics include:

    • tips on good practice during revision
    • how to be a good independent learner
    • the skill of note taking.

    Applying to university

    A general overview of how to navigate the UCAS system and what to expect.

    Alternative progression routes

    Introduces students to alternative routes into higher education. Such as graduate apprenticeships: studying for a degree level qualification, whilst gaining relevant and valuable work experience.

    Choosing a course and university

    How to narrow down the choices in higher education to a manageable number, and how university courses can differ.

    Writing personal statements

    How to prepare for and write personal statements. Including:

    • dos and don’ts
    • structuring your statement
    • tips from admissions tutors.

    Student finance

    An overview of the financial support available to students, including:

    • loans
    • scholarships and bursaries
    • advice on the student finance process.

    Student life

    An insight into student life from the perspective of a current student. Covers topics such as:

    • accommodation
    • social life
    • societies
    • sports
    • your studies.

    Preparing for university

    Helping prepare students for the next steps after they’ve made their application to university. Topics include:

    • what to pack for university
    • what support is available to students
    • tips from current students on subjects ranging from budgeting to cooking.
