Professor Sean Wellington is Associate Dean Strategy and Development in the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment. His responsibilities include day-to- day leadership and management of the Faculty, co-ordinating strategic development and deputising for the PVC/Dean across the full range of Faculty activities. The Faculty comprises four academic schools with some 3,800 students and 300 staff. It is home to Architecture, Fine Art, Film, Music, Publishing, Computing, Engineering, Digital Media, Planning, Real Estate and Construction.

Sean Wellington began his career in the engineering industry, initially as an Apprentice and then Engineering Technician with Marconi Defence System. He has since held senior leadership roles in two UK universities including interim appointments as Pro Vice Chancellor. Sean is a Chartered Engineer and has a particular interest in engineering education and the professional formation of Engineers. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

Professor Wellington holds the following degrees: BEng (Hons), MPhil and PhD (all Engineering) and MBA Higher Education Management. He has also completed the Leadership Foundation's Top Management Programme (TMP 35). Research interests include higher education policy and practice, digital signal processing and information fusion.
