Ms Sarah Neal

Sarah was seconded to the role of Deputy Head of Practice Education in January 2017. Sarah is currently an active member of HEI placement partnership networks across key placement footprints. Sarah’s role utilises her 12 years’ experience of being a Placement Lead for Adult Nursing in Oxford and through leading practice education curriculum development for nursing programmes.

Sarah’s clinical background is in Neuroscience Nursing. Within this role she took the lead in the development of a series of multiprofessional lectures, seminars and workshops related to medical ethics and the dilemmas often faced by clinicians.  Sarah was the nurse representative on the Oxford Local Nursing and Allied Health Care Professionals Research Ethics Committee based at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospital NHS Trust, 1996 – 1998. Sarah was Lecturer Practitioner 1998-2004, this role enabled her to combine teaching undergraduate pre and post experience nursing education as a senior lecturer whilst having a senior leadership role as a nurse in the NHS Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit and the Radcliffe infirmary NHS Trust.


Sarah has extensive experience in placement education and the key project areas Sarah is currently involved with include for example:


  • Electronic Practice Assessment Documentation
  • Private,  Voluntary and Independent Sector placements
  • Supporting Practice Education developments across the faculty
  • Quality assurance processes and closing placement evaluation feedback loops with placement providers
