Charles Robertson works on a range of Renaissance topics. He studied as an undergraduate at University College London and as Post Graduate at The Courtauld Institute of Art, where he received his Doctorate. A main area of his interests has been with the connections between painting and architecture in the Renaissance. He is concerned with issues of representation and conceptualisation particularly in relation to printmaking in Italy and Northern Europe. He has published and to work continues on Michelangelo, Bramante, Bramantino and Milanese Art. He is completing studies on Michelangelo’s Last Judgement and the artist’s return to painting in his later career.
