Sally Hughes

I teach on the MA programmes for publishing (my modules are listed on my main staff page), conduct research into museum and art gallery publishing and help administer the MA programmes in the School of Arts. I also manage the MA Publishing Studies which is delivered through distance learning.

My research centres on publishing by museums and galleries and the role that books play in the representation of the institution, their curatorial authors and the visitors to museums who purchase this specialised form of publication.

Currently, I am investigating case studies of print and digital publishing by museums and art galleries for inclusion in the book on this topic to be published by Ashgate (manuscript submitted in 2018). My visit to museums in South Africa in 2013 resulted in a paper for Critical Arts.
