My research interests are in historical criminology, and particularly historical policing practices. I am currently working on a monograph based on my PhD thesis, which examines policing based on suspicion in London, 1780-1850, and am particularly interested in the legacies and contemporary implications of historical policing activities. I'm also interested more widely in the history of London, and the connections drawn between space, criminal activity and morality in the city. My developing research interests include policing practices in colonial Australia, and their impacts and legacies for marginalised communities and groups in Australia today.
