I qualified as a Registered General Nurse (R.G.N) in 1988 and have worked in the NHS ever since. I specialised in Neonatal Intensive Care for much of my early career, working in Llandough Hospital Cardiff, Southmead Bristol, Bath Royal United and Swindon SCBU Units as a Senior Sister.

In 1998, I graduated from Cheltenham with a BSc (Hons) in Community Health Care Nursing and have worked in Public Health as a Health Visitor until taking on this post.

I have a keen interest in student learning, since taking on the role of mentor. I have developed experience with pre-registration students covering different specialities from a number of universities. I achieved a module at Masters Level from UWE Bristol which enabled me to support post graduate students undergoing the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse, Course. I have worked in Willtshire for many years, building on my knowledge of community capacity which will assist in this development role.

I believe clinical placements to be pivotal to nurse education, and the future work force. This role will be challenging and exciting. I will be looking at new and innovative ways to enhance the student placement experience, whilst maintaining a quality learning environment. This will involve establishing close partnerships between the university and private, voluntary and independent sectors, developing interpersonal relationships, and preparing nurses of the future for community work.
