Anna qualified as a Children's Nurse and General Nurse in 1984. She worked as a Children's nurse in London; Sydney, Austalia; Edinburgh and then Oxford. She gained her first degree in Geography, from University College, London in 1988. This inspired an interest in Ethnography, leading to its use as her research methodology when completing an MSc in Child Health Nursing in 1999.

In 1991 Anna became a Lecturer Practitioner, employed by Oxford Brookes University and the Radcliffe Infirmary, in this interesting role which incorporated management, research, practice and education. In 2001 Anna took up the position of Senior Lecturer in Children's Nursing. She further developed her particular interest and expertise in child and family mental health and has developed and taught courses related to this at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as being placement lead for Children's nursing.

In 2013 Anna fulfilled her yearning to return to clinical practice by becoming a student for a year and qualifying as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in Health Visiting. She now works as a Health Visitor in Oxford as well as a Senior Lecturer at Brookes

Currently working as a therapist on the 'Healthy Start Happy Start' research project for Imperial College, London, evaluating the use of Video feedback to promote positive parenting in families of 1-3 year olds.

Areas of expertise

Anna developed expertise in caring for children requiring neurosurgery, plastic surgery and craniofacial surgery and developed the first clinical nurse specialist role in Oxford- caring for babies and children with cleft lip and palate.

Her current clinical interests include infant and perinatal mental health, supporting breast feeding and supporting young children with special educational needs and their families.

She supports mentors and pre-registration students undertaking clinical practice placements in oxfordshire(SN, HV). Anna currently works as a Health Visitor 3-4 days /week.
