Sarah's work explores how researchers might motivate young women to take part in research which asks questions about their health risk behaviours. She is particularly interested in the use of social marketing and digital technologies to reduce barriers to research participation.

Her earlier research involved the validation of the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test in Primary Care. She has also undertaken an audit with Dr. Jane Appleton, Dr. Catherine Powell and Dr. Nick Pike to evaluate NHS staff knowledge and training needs on the subject of child sexual exploitation.

She began her career as a primary school teacher with a special interest in teaching maths and science to children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Now she teaches epidemiology and statistics within the MSc Public Health team.  Sarah is particularly interested in developing students' study skills and knowledge of research methods.
