My previous research has focused on the psychological issues international students face when studying in the UK. I worked on a collaborative project with a Student Support Coordinator entitled: ‘International Students and Mental Health: What does Culture Shock encompass?’ and we presented our paper at the Brookes Teaching and Learning Conference. We also led a seminar on this issue which was organised by OSMHN (Oxford Student Mental Health Network).
I am currently involved in a longitudinal research project looking into the effectiveness of pre-sessional programmes for preparing students for their future academic courses. The results of this will assist with future course development. I am also interested in the use of effective teaching methods and assignments to encourage learner autonomy and engagement of international students within UK Higher Education.
