Chris is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Oxford Brookes Business School, currently with a university wide portfolio for marketing.
He began academic life at Oxford University before pursuing a professional career in marketing and advertising. He rose to Account Director level in a series of American and UK advertising agencies, working with household names such as Unilever; Colgate Palmolive, The Prudential, The Daily Mail and Quaker Foods. He originally came on sabbatical to Oxford Brookes to undertake doctoral research into the relationship between advertising & propaganda behind 'the Iron Curtain', but stayed long after the curtain fell!
During his time at Oxford Brookes, Chris has held the post of Assistant Dean (undergraduate programmes); Head of Employer Engagement in the School's commercial division; Department Head of Marketing & Retailing and Associate Dean for Strategy and Development. At one time or another he also taught on all the marketing programmes offered by the Business School and has held senior external examinerships at several HE institutions across the UK. He also spent a two year period as Pro Vice-Chancellor (International ) at Oxord Brookes where he had overall responsibility for developing the university's current international strategy.
Chris also holds postgraduate qualifications in Teaching & Learning in HE and in Coaching & Mentoring. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the Academy of Marketing and is UK Dean representative on the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) EPAS Accreditation Committee. He was recently made a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in recognition of his contribution to management education and leadership.
