Mieke grew up in the Netherlands and graduated in 2001 with an MA in Communication Science from the Radboud University in Nijmegen. After a three-year career in Quality Management Consultancy, she moved to the UK.
In the UK, Mieke worked for the National Health Service as a Principal Internal Auditor for 9 years, providing assurance to Executive Boards and Audit Committees that effective systems and controls are in place in their organisation to manage all significant risks that are identified.
Mieke started working for Brookes and the Centre for Diversity Policy Research and Practice as a Research Administrator in November 2015 and she is heavily involved in the organisation of events (see our Events page for examples), monitoring the Centre finances, designing and compiling the newsletter, social media - including our twitter account, the Centre website and the smooth running of the Centre on a day-to-day basis. She now combines a part-time role with childcare.
