The research areas I am developing are on the interface of physical and mental health. Currently I am focusing on diabetes and mental health and how to improve care for people with these conditions while observing patient safety and well-being.

"The development of a Patient Reported Experience Measure (PREM) for inpatients with diabetes" To develop and test a questionnaire for the experience of all inpatients with diabetes to enable measurable service delivery improvements. (role: PI)
"Incorporating the Diabetes Distress Scale into routine nursing diabetes care – a feasibility and acceptability project" This project assesses the feasibility and acceptability of incorporating diabetes distress screening into the routine diabetes specialist nursing consultations and to determine how to make this inclusion an efficient and effective clinical practice. (role: PI)
"Integrated approach to diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus and mental health conditions in secondary mental health services — a feasibility study using the Clinical Records Interactive Search system" This study explores if it is feasible to use the secondary mental health records (Oxford Health NHS FT EPR) to explore the extent of recognising and addressing diabetes mellitus in adult patients with mental health conditions. (role: PI)
"Management of diabetes in adults with psychiatric disorders in inpatient settings: clinicians’ perceptions of their role" This project will explore clinicians’ perceptions of their role in managing diabetes (type 1 and type 2) in adult inpatients in mental health facilities. It will discuss the importance of acknowledging existing diabetes at the time of diagnosis, updating patient’s health records, planning treatment, inpatient stay, and discharge. (role: PI)
"Integrated Diabetes Care" Integrating diabetes care is a programme of research designed to improve the care of people living with diabetes through joining up services across primary, community and secondary care as well as integrating mental and physical care. (role: Researcher)
