Zero Emission Zone

  • The City of Oxford is on a journey to implement the world’s first Zero Carbon Zone. Oxford's Zero Emission Zone aims to tackle dangerously high Nitrogen Dioxide levels and improve individuals’ health and well-being.

The first phase is expected to be implemented in 2020. The project will be delivered over a number of phases and is expected to be completed by 2035.

In autumn 2019, Oxford City Council and Oxford County Council will begin a public consultation on a part-time ZEZ for the red zone and measures for green zone.

Oxford Brookes University will continue to engage throughout the consultation and provide updates accordingly.
