When I applied to switch to full-time study at Oxford Brookes, I realised that I was trying to get a place at one of the most sought after Universities in the UK. So when I got a place I was really proud. It was one of the best choices I have ever made!
It is fascinating to study how the political and economic world interacts, and all the factors that influence it. I also think that the lecturers are fantastic. They are all engaged with their subjects and the teaching is first class. The result is that students complete modules with a full understanding of the subjects. There is help if you should need it, both academically and personally if problems arise.
Being able to tailor my degree to my own needs and likes is a real plus, which is not available at a lot of places. The breadth of modules to choose from has meant being able to specialise at the undergraduate level, but at the same time the compulsory modules mean that we have a fantastic grounding in the theories.
It is wonderful to be among all the bright, vibrant, cosmopolitan mix of students that are here at Oxford Brookes. I have met some great people here, who I know will be very successful.
I live outside Oxford, but I get the best of this amazing city. It is full of things to do, lots of young people running around and lots and lots of smiling tourists. It is vibrant.
The biggest advantage of a university course, is that employers recognise that candidates are able to initiate, plan and implement work, with the benefit of being able to apply a high level of analytical thinking to projects. Also, Oxford Brookes utilises ‘real world’ techniques to prepare students for post-university work; by using group assignments, and presentations.
I would love to work with the UN or EU, particularly in post-conflict stabilisation missions. I am really interested in conflict transitions and governance implementation.
