Brookes Sport set to launch 'Active Start'

This September, Brookes Sport will be launching an exciting initiative to help new students arriving at Oxford Brookes University get into our gyms and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle - with all of the associated benefits that exercise provides.

Active Start provides all new undergraduate students at Oxford Brookes with a free membership* to our gym facilities at both Headington and Harcourt Hill for the entirety of semester 1 right up until Sunday 30 January inclusive - whilst also entitling those who claim the offer access to the BUCS UNIversal** membership, allowing access to participating university gym facilities across the country.

Mark Mackintosh, Brookes Sport Marketing & Engagement Manager told us:

There is a real drop off in physical activity from the age of 18 onwards, and as firm believers in the well-documented benefits that exercise can bring - not just from a physical standpoint, but also for mental health at what can be a very stressful time - we hope that this initiative will encourage new students to make a positive start here at Brookes and ingrain a culture of wellbeing. This is something we are really excited about and we hope it can help lay the foundations for a terrific experience while at university.
