Overview

This module will explore theoretical and practical aspects of health promotion, including how to develop action plans for health promotion.  It can be taken as an individual module over 12 weeks or as part of a programme of study.  

You will be introduced to behavioural theory as it relates to changes in health behaviour and lifestyle, as well as looking at the larger social dimensions related to lifestyle. The module will also provide tools for:

  • assessing community health needs
  • planning health promotion activities
  • considering the advantages and disadvantages of engaging communities in developing their own healthy lifestyles.

You will be assessed 100% through coursework.

Entry requirements

You will normally be from a healthcare background and have support from a manager to undertake this module of study if you are funded by your employer.

English language requirements

In addition to the academic entry qualifications, if your first language is not English you must demonstrate that your level of English is appropriate for study at postgraduate level. An IELTS overall score of 6.5 is required for this course.
