Overview
This Evidence Based Practice module can be studied as part of a full-time or part-time programme.
It aims to explore and critique theories, models and strategies for evidence-based practice, with application to the health and social care setting. We will examine the purposes, uses and limitations of various approaches to evidence-based practice, with consideration of political and economic dimensions.
We'll consider the concepts of decision-making from the practitioner, purchaser, provider and consumer perspectives. We will also explore some available tools for critical-appraisal and the transfer of evidence to professional knowledge.
The module will include sharing the work of experts, researchers and the student group for discussion and critique.
You will be assessed 100% through coursework. This module can be taken as a standalone module with 200 hours of study over 12 weeks or it can be part of a programme of study.

You must normally be from a healthcare background and have support from a manager to undertake this module of study.

English language requirements
In addition to the academic entry qualifications, if your first language is not English you must demonstrate that your level of English is appropriate for study at postgraduate level. An IELTS overall score of 6.5 is required for this course.

If you wish to take this as a standalone module then you can apply to be a postgraduate associate student using our online application portal. You will need to register for the portal prior to proceeding with an application.

Tuition fees
Fees quoted are for the first year only. If you are studying a course that lasts longer than one year your fees will increase each year.
How and when to pay
Tuition fee instalments for the semester are due by the Monday of week 1 of each semester. Students are not liable for full fees for that semester if they leave before week 4. If the leaving date is after week 4, full fees for the semester are payable.
