Overview

This practice-focused orientation in Improving the Quality of Healthcare will enable healthcare professionals to critically explore the conceptual foundations of quality and governance in the context of their own working environment.

You will gain an understanding of the broader theoretical concepts of quality and clinical governance initiative. It challenges accepted notions of measuring quality and performance in complex situations and explores how practitioners can develop more appropriate and effective frameworks.

You will be introduced to the complexity of change management and the dilemmas in achieving organisational change through clinical governance. You'll be encouraged to critically analyse your own practice/organisation's approach to managing quality improvement within the clinical governance agenda.

You will be assessed 100% through coursework. This module will take 150 hours of study over 12 weeks and it can also be taken as part of a programme of study.
