Overview

We are offering two fully funded PhD scholarships through the AD[A]PT Consortium’s AHRC Doctoral Focal Award, supporting arts and humanities research for healthier people, places and planet. One scholar will be based in Architecture and one in the Built Environment.

Scholars will join AD[A]PT cohorts at Cardiff and Falmouth and work with partners including RIBA, RTPI, RICS, CIOB, Historic England, Chartered Institute of Housing CymruRoyal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cadw, RCAHMW, CIBSE, Design Commission for Wales, Landscape Institute, and Circus Eruption, with some projects offered as Collaborative Doctoral Awards.

We welcome applicants from under-represented groups whose proposals address AD[A]PT’s vision: identifying barriers to creating healthy places, developing strategies to overcome them, and using design-led arts and humanities methods to support UN SDGs, net-zero goals, safety standards, and inclusive, biodiverse environments.

OR respond to:

Set Brief 1 (Built Environment): explore how healthy live music ecosystems support urban and cultural regeneration, examining urban form, performance spaces and policy implications. RTPI may support this as a CDA.
