Digital Services and Learning Technology

The Digital Services and Learning Technology team provide on-campus development of the Brookes Virtual Learning Environment, assisting academic staff in integrating technology enhanced learning into their learning, teaching and assessment practice. We run staff training drop-in sessions for many of the technologies, including Moodle, Turnitin Feedback Studio, and other technologies.

Our key services include:

  • Moodle (Virtual Learning Environment)
  • Turnitin and Feedback Studio (text-matching/originality report software and online marking and feedback)
  • Zoom (Virtual classroom)
  • Panopto (Video library)
  • Library Services Platform
  • EndNote (bibliographic software)
  • RADAR (digital repository)

LR Innovation

Technology Engagement Group

Our remit includes the evaluation of new teaching and learning software and hardware. We organise demonstrations and presentations of new technology via the Technology Engagement Group (TEG).

Community of Practice forums

We convene regular forums where we build up the Brookes Community of Practice and work as a support network for digital capabilities. These forums includes sessions on Using Tools, Innovative Design, Teaching and Learning, and Digital Wellbeing.

LR STAR

We recruit and train staff and students to act as researchers, resource creators, mentors, and trainers in the LR STAR programme. This builds a community of staff and students working together on projects, devising new training opportunities, mentoring staff and students to build confidence in using Brookes platforms, and researching new ways to innovate.
