Andrew Kopkin graduated from Exeter College, Oxford University, with a B.A. and M.A. in Jurisprudence; and from Queens' College, Cambridge University, with an LL.M. in European and International Law.  He was called to the Bar by the Hon. Society of the Middle Temple and is also qualified as an attorney in California.  Among other bar memberships, he is a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.

After finishing pupillage, part of which he spent in Brussels in the Legal Directorate General of the European Union, as recipient of the Hon. Sir Peter Bristow Scholarship from the Middle Temple, Mr. Kopkin moved to Los Angeles.  For many years, he practised law in California, primarily business and civil litigation and appellate law; and he was also dean and a law professor in the School of Law at the University of West Los Angeles.
