Dr. Arasan Uthayasuriyan earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2022) from the University of Nottingham as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Fellow within the ‘No2Noise’ EU project. His doctoral work focused on developing advanced vibroacoustic condensed (reduced order) models for multilayer structures. Following his PhD, he conducted postdoctoral research (2022-2023) at ENSTA-Paris, designing piezoelectric transducers for targeted vibrating modes for efficient sound propagation. He then joined KU Leuven as a postdoctoral researcher (2024-2026) where he developed mapping algorithms for transferring injection moulding process results into the structural simulation to predict the vibroacoustic performance of metamaterials.

Prior to his doctoral studies, Arasan gained industrial experience worked as a Design Engineer at Eaton India Innovation Centre (2016-2018). He holds a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering (2014-2016) from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) where he specialised in aircraft structures and did his bachelors in Aeronautical Engineering (2009-2013) from the Madras Institute of Technology Campus of Anna University. He has research interests in vibroacoustics of planar and curved structures, elasticity and contact mechanics of functionally graded materials.
