Brendan Hattam works for Landsec PLC, the UKs largest property company and is the Centre Director of Westgate shopping centre in Oxford. Brendan has spent over 30 years working in the retail and shopping centre management industry for a range of multiple retail, department store and shopping centre companies. Westgate Oxford is the UKs largest new shopping centre development and opened in 2017 after many years in planning. It is over 800,000 square feet in size, has 120 retail, food and leisure brands including John Lewis, a cinema, restaurants and leisure operators. It cost £460 million to develop and is jointly owned by Landsec PLC and the Crown Estate. It is also one of the most sustainable retail developments ever constructed in the UK, employs 3,500 people and has 20 million visitors per annum.

Brendan has extensive experience of business planning, change management, marketing, development, hospitality and people management in an industry that rapidly changes based on consumer demand and evolving technology. Within this Brendan has also gained a lot of experience of working with a range of stakeholders including local authorities, transport, cultural, heritage, tourism and business organisations. The Westgate development has also been used as a study subject for several education institutions from primary school to masters degree level and Brendan has been actively involved in these projects.
