Role

David is the Technical Coordinator for the workshops in the Schools of Art and Architecture, Technical Specialist for Sculpture and Fabrication in the School of Arts and holds a Master’s degree in Fine Art.

He has a wide range of technical knowledge in traditional skills of mould making, casting, wood and metal fabrication, and digital making utilising Laser cutting and 3D print technologies. Interrogating how these technologies complement and combine in the making of artefacts.

David works across most of the taught programs offered by the School of Arts and cooperates with students from the School of Architecture. Offering bespoke, individual, and group sessions within the making workshop. He also plays a large part in organising and installing the end-of-year exhibitions for the Schools of Art and Architecture within TDE.

He started his career in the creative industries as a Prop and model maker for Television and film. He holds a range of technical qualifications including IOSH and joinery, and has been a Technical Specialist and lecturer in Higher and Further education institutions.
