Role
Dr Safras Mohamed Iqbal is a Lecturer in Computer Science in the School of Engineering,
Computing and Mathematics at Oxford Brookes University. He has over fourteen years of
combined academic and industrial experience, with expertise in cyber security, computer
networks, software engineering, and connected and autonomous vehicle technologies.
Prior to joining Oxford Brookes as a Lecturer, Dr Iqbal worked as an Associate Lecturer
within the School from March 2021 to April 2026, contributing to the teaching and
assessment of a range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in areas including
programming, cyber security, secure software development, networking, ethical hacking, and
software engineering.
Before entering academia, Dr Iqbal accumulated approximately nine years of industrial
experience (October 2010 – September 2019) in software engineering, quality assurance,
test automation, and project management. He worked for leading international technology
organisations, including Virtusa and Pactera, contributing to the delivery of large-scale
enterprise systems in the capital markets and healthcare sectors.
At Virtusa, he worked as a Software Quality Assurance and Automation Test Engineer within
the capital markets domain, gaining extensive experience in software quality assurance,
automation frameworks, and enterprise software delivery. He later joined Pactera-Singapore,
where he worked on large-scale healthcare systems, digital transformation initiatives, and
Oracle BPM projects for healthcare authorities, progressing into project management and
technical leadership roles.
