Role

I have been a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council since July 2013. I am a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery and I am the BSc (Hons) and MSc Subject Co-ordinator. My role includes curriculum design and delivery and I support, teach and assess students across all midwifery programmes (BSc, MSc and the Shortened Course for Registered Nurses) at levels 4,5,6 and 7.

I have worked in midwifery education since April 2019 and joined Oxford Brookes University from another Higher Education Institution in July 2022. Prior to workingin education, I worked in clinical practice as a midwife in a freestanding midwifery led unit where I provided care across the childbirth continuum to women and their
families in West Oxfordshire.

Teaching and supervision

I am the module leader for the year one module Midwifery Practice 2: The Continuum of Care, the year two module Public Health in Midwifery 2: Human Rights and Context of Care and the year three module Midwifery Practice 5: Implementing Caseloading.

I teach across other modules on all stages of the programme, supervise BSc
Dissertations and co-supervise MSc dissertations.

Research

I started the Professional Doctorate in Midwifery in 2021 with my research focusing on intrapartum birthing pool use for individuals with obstetric risk factors. My research is a mixed methods project, exploring birthing pool use following a previous caesarean section.
