Xiaofu is a Senior Lecturer in Vehicle Dynamics in the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at Oxford Brookes University.
Before joining Oxford Brookes, he worked as a Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Engineer at Alstom. Previously, he was a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol and a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at China Agricultural University.
He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol and an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath.
Before joining Oxford Brookes, he worked as a Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Engineer at Alstom. Previously, he was a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol and a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at China Agricultural University.

Research
Xiaofu's research focuses on the modelling, analysis and control of dynamic mechanical and vehicle systems, with particular interests in:
- vehicle dynamics, ride and suspension systems
- vibration control and inerter-based technologies
- dynamic system modelling, identification and optimisation
- multibody and multi-domain modelling and simulation
- railway vehicle dynamics and wheel–rail interaction
- experimental validation and data-driven engineering analysis

Xiaofu has worked on collaborative research and engineering projects with industrial and transport sector partners, including RSSB, Network Rail and Jaguar Land Rover.
His research and industrial experience spans suspension systems, vibration control, railway vehicle dynamics, active suspension, modelling and simulation, and engineering validation. His experience at Alstom has also given him direct involvement in industrial vehicle dynamics analysis and verification.
