Going into the third year of my BSc Anthropology undergraduate course, I started to consider what I wanted to do afterwards and looked into studying a postgraduate degree.
I chose to study the MSc Primate Conservation (part-time), as it was associated to modules from my undergraduate degree that I enjoyed studying the most, and I already knew many of the lecturers on the course. Furthermore the course has a great reputation with other students and is academically renowned.
My advice for current undergraduates unsure about pursuing postgraduate study is to make sure you consider all of your study options. I would recommend going to the postgraduate open evenings to talk to course lecturers and current students as they’ll help you get a feel and understanding of the course.
For my postgraduate degree, I chose to study part-time as it helped me balance funding myself on the course and pursuing a subject I was interested in.
During my course, I have learnt that whilst the course can be stressful and is hard work I can achieve a large amount of studying in less time. A great skill to learn when pursuing future job prospects in the field I’ve done my Masters in.
