“The course gave me the confidence to transition into professional motorsport and continue developing as an engineer in competitive racing environments.”

"Oxford Brookes University is one of the top universities in Engineering and Motorsports."

I researched the programme and spoke with alumni and professors. The University felt the right choice for me because of its position and reputation within the engineering industry, exposure to modern tools and technologies, and the overall support offered. The opportunity to work on real engineering problems, combined with access to experienced academics and industry-linked projects, made it clear that Oxford Brookes would prepare me well for a professional engineering career.

"Students were encouraged to question assumptions and justify engineering decisions."

During my studies here in the UK, I discovered the level of application of knowledge was much higher than what I had experienced, encouraging me to think like an engineer, handling a project end-to-end. Reflecting on the work undertaken and the potential of the project was an experience that instilled a deeper problem-solving mentality within myself. This approach not only improved my technical understanding but also helped me grow in confidence when presenting my work and communicating with peers and academics.

"We had a dedicated industry lecture almost every week."

Professionals and alumni working in high-performance teams shared their wisdom and experiences to guide us in our journey. The opportunity to network and connect with professionals from the industry was invaluable, as it allowed me to gain first-hand insight into real-world engineering challenges, understand current industry expectations, and build meaningful professional relationships. Alongside this, the advice from my academic adviser was valuable not only for my studies but also for personal and professional development. Having this consistent support made a real difference to my experience at Oxford Brookes and helped me make the most of my time at the University.

"As an international student, settling into the student community was a positive and welcoming experience."

The University provided good support with student accommodation and exploring the university and the city which helped me feel comfortable and confident in a new country. I took part in several social and academic activities, like the Brookes Enterprise Centre and attended events organised by different societies and student communities. These activities helped me meet people from diverse backgrounds, make friends, and feel more connected to the University. Overall, being involved in the student community made my experience at Brookes enjoyable, safe and helped me settle in quickly.

"I am currently working as a freelance motorsport engineer."

I support racing programmes in touring cars and Porsche GT3 Cup cars. My role involves applying engineering principles in real race-weekend environments, contributing to vehicle set-up, performance analysis, and decision-making under pressure. Alongside this, I am actively developing my professional profile through industry applications, networking, and hands-on technical projects while being part of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team’s Mentorship Programme.

My course at Oxford Brookes played a key role in preparing me for this path by providing a strong technical foundation, hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, and exposure to real motorsport case studies. It gave me the confidence to transition into professional motorsport and continue developing as an engineer in competitive racing environments.
