I always knew I wanted to be a lawyer. A friend from Canada recommended Oxford Brookes, and it’s been the right choice. There are great opportunities for law students here, like mooting competitions (mock trials) and client interviewing competitions. And there’s a really wide choice of modules you can take.
‘Experience that will help my career’
With law as a career, there’s a very big emphasis on gaining experience. It’s not enough to know the materials from your course – you have to be able to apply them. The learning here is very practical, gearing us towards legal practice.
I’ve had a couple of internships with commercial law firms. One of them I found through a peer-mentoring programme here at Brookes, and the other one through the Brookes Law Society. This experience is going to help me in gaining future employment. I probably wouldn't have had it without those connections through my course.
