“Oxford has truly become a second home to me, and I´m excited to transition from the university environment into the professional financial sector. I look forward to applying the technical skills and confidence I developed at Oxford Brookes.”

“The combination of a modern, career-focused campus and the chance to study in a history-filled city made it feel like the perfect fit for my education.”

I discovered Oxford Brookes through social media, where the university´s active digital presence first caught my eye and sparked a genuine curiosity about their approach to business education. After researching the curriculum, I took the initiative to set up a meeting with a university recruiter to see if the environment aligned with my professional goals. What immediately resonated with me was the school's heavy emphasis on more than just traditional academics. The opportunity to utilise industry-standard tools, like the Bloomberg Suite, and engage in real-life cases was a major draw for me.

“My academic advisor helped me create an environment where I felt comfortable asking for help.”

Moving to a new country and academic system was made incredibly seamless by the layered support provided by Oxford Brookes, both before and after my arrival. Even before moving to the UK, having a dedicated point of contact at the university was invaluable. I knew I could reach out at any time with questions, which eased much of the initial uncertainty. Once on campus, the International Student Advice Team (ISAT) provided numerous opportunities to settle in and connect with others. I was fortunate to meet several fellow Scandinavian students during induction week through university-hosted events.

“I love Oxford's unique balance between vibrant energy and quiet focus.”

I am constantly inspired by the historic architecture and the surrounding nature, which offers a sense of calmness that is especially welcome during busy academic periods. Oxford feels like a place where everything is reachable, offering a distinct city essence while remaining close enough to London for easy access to broader opportunities.

“Being part of a society has provided a fantastic platform to connect with a diverse group of people.”

My experience has been greatly enriched by co-founding and serving as the Secretary and Welfare Manager for the Oxford Brookes Scandinavian Society. This role has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to coordinate operations for over 50 members and host events that showcase Scandinavian culture and traditions. This has fostered a supportive community where we can socialise and experience university life together in a meaningful way.

“This financial support has helped me massively, alleviating the pressures often associated with moving to a new country.”

Funding my international education required careful planning, and I have been supported by a combination of the Norwegian student loan system and institutional recognition from the university. I was honored to receive a £2,000 scholarship for my first year of study, which served as a significant vote of confidence in my academic potential.

“Technically, the University has provided me with incredible industry insight through the Bloomberg Suite.”

I have gained certifications that allow me to navigate real-market data. A major highlight was participating in a high-level M&A simulation with AmplifyMe, which was hosted right here at the school in partnership with UBS. This gave me a direct, hands-on look at the mechanics of mergers and acquisitions in a professional setting. Beyond these practical experiences, the University has provided modules specifically focused on employability skills.

“My plan is to stay in the UK and begin my professional career.”

Throughout my time at Oxford Brookes, I´ve built a strong foundation both academically and personally, and I feel that the UK is the best place for me to apply what I have learned. Oxford has truly become a second home to me, and I´m excited to transition from the university environment into the professional financial sector. I look forward to applying the technical skills and confidence I developed at Oxford Brookes.
