Thesis title: An investigation of stakeholder relationship patterns in the planning process of cultural event tourism (CET)

Research topic

My research aims to identify and analyse stakeholder relationship patterns in the planning process of cultural event tourism (CET). To effectively investigate stakeholder cooperation, applying stakeholder theory is essential as this is a principle employed by an organisation to understand its stakeholders and the degree to which they influence the organisation’s functions and existence. And resource dependency theory fully explains how resources impact on the importance of the stakeholder for the organisation. Hence, this research will contribute to knowledge by creating a new framework for managing stakeholders from a combination of elements of stakeholder and resource dependency theories. Key elements of these theories will be pulled together based on the CET context. For the practical perspective, the framework of barriers and enablers of stakeholder relationships could be useful for CET’ stakeholders: (1), understand relationships between stakeholders (2) realise potential barriers and enablers to stakeholder cooperation, (3) improve the quality of the planning process, and (4) mitigate risk and threat to their cooperation, ultimately improving CET competitiveness.
