Having studied my undergraduate degree at Oxford Brookes University I decided to stay on at the University to do a PGCE. I decided to this because of my interest in teaching, and I felt the PGCE course was the ideal thing to prepare me for this.
With the knowledge of the University that I had from studying here, I knew already just how highly rated the PGCE course at Oxford Brookes was, and the 10% Alumni discount was also something that swayed my decision! As well as this I love the city of Oxford. It’s really pretty, it has great bars and restaurants and it is close to my family … but not too close!
The staff at Oxford Brookes are also great. Although I have only just started my PGCE I can already see the great quality of the teaching, and in my undergraduate degree I found staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced. When I was doing my undergraduate degree at Brookes I also found that staff were always on hand to provide help to me. My academic advisor was great, and always happy to set aside time out of his day to give me advice and help me with whatever problems I was having. He was also really interested in what I planned to do after my undergraduate, which showed that he genuinely cared for me and other students.
In the future I hope to teach in a primary school, and then hopefully move back to Spain. Through studying at Brookes I hope to use my second language qualification that I already have from my undergraduate degree and combine it with my Primary PGCE degree to help me when I am teaching both in England and Spain.
