Anthropolgy, 2019

“I’m so glad I did Anthropology at Oxford Brookes. The course here is really, really interesting”

I didn’t really know what anthropology was when I first came. But I soon realised I’m fascinated by topics like primate conservation and evolution. I’ve had the best time.

‘I’d do my dissertation again in a heartbeat’

My dissertation supervisor was absolutely fantastic. She gave me loads of guidance. I did my dissertation on how social media affects wild animals. If you take a selfie with an elephant, it can seem on social media that it’s natural for humans to come this close to animals, and that they’re not endangered.

It was all thanks to the staff at Oxford Brookes, that I decided to do this topic. I thoroughly enjoyed doing my dissertation. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

‘My course leader was inspirational’

I’ve got an internship at Monkey World for the future, as care staff. I think it’ll really open up doors for me, and I’ll be able to get a huge, full-time career in conservation. I really look up to one course leader at Oxford Brookes and her work within primate conservation. She has really inspired me to go down this route.
