Early Childhood Studies, 2018

“The best thing about the course is the range of modules offered: from the unique Outdoor Learning module to the Special Needs modules. This was an area I’d never really looked into before, and really enjoyed”

decided to take the Early Childhood Studies course to further the knowledge I gained at college. I knew I loved working with children but I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, so I chose this course as it allowed me to get a good knowledge base into a number of fields. Brookes really appealed to me as a university for many reasons – I liked the location and Oxford as a city. I attended an open day and the whole university seemed really friendly.

I really like life in Oxford – especially being at the Harcourt Hill Campus – because of the contrast. You have the city, its history, and the busier side of things, but at the campus it’s quieter and peaceful so you get the best of both worlds. Oxford also has a large number of schools and nurseries, which is great when making placement decisions.

The best thing about the course is the range of modules offered: from the unique Outdoor Learning module to the Special Needs modules. This was an area I’d never really looked into before, and really enjoyed. The sheer range of modules allowed me to pick the ones that I thought were most interesting and would improve my knowledge about many different topics. The course has opened my eyes to a lot of areas I had never considered and has helped me develop my confidence.

Brookes Careers office have been really good at helping me look at all the options available to me after university. All the Brookes staff are so supportive, no matter what your issue is, big or small, you can send them an email or go and see them and they’ll help.
