“The pαthway programme played a crucial role in building my confidence. It provided a supportive environment where I could gradually develop key academic skills, particularly critical thinking.”

“I first discovered Oxford Brookes while researching pathway programmes.”

When I looked through the website, I found information about the Open Days and decided to attend one before applying for the pathway course. During the Open Day, I was able to speak with lecturers and current students, and I immediately felt welcomed and sensed the friendly atmosphere of the University. At that moment, I felt strongly that studying at Oxford Brookes would be very rewarding and inspiring.

“Moving to the UK was both exciting and challenging.”

At first, I found it difficult to live away from my family and adjust to a new environment.  However, the support I received before arriving, such as pre-arrival information and guidance from the ISAT and Accommodation teams, helped reduce my anxiety. After arriving in the UK, the tutors from the pathway course and support staff were very approachable and understanding. They helped me adapt to a new academic style, particularly in areas such as academic writing and seminar discussions. This support made a significant difference and gradually helped me feel more confident within the UK academic system.

“The pαthway programme played a crucial role in building my confidence.”

It provided a supportive environment where I could gradually develop key academic skills, particularly critical thinking, before starting my Psychology degree. Through coursework and independent study, I learned how to manage my time effectively and take responsibility for my own learning. By the time I progressed to my degree, I felt much more prepared academically and emotionally, and more confident in my ability to succeed as an independent student.

“My classmates and tutors are very supportive and encouraging.”

With my classmates, we spent a lot of time discussing our own ideas and sharing our experiences, which helped us understand different perspectives and build a strong sense of community. The tutors are approachable and genuinely care about our progress. They are always willing to answer questions and provide detailed feedback. This open and friendly environment makes it easier to participate in class and ask for help whenever I need it.

“Oxford has an academic atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.”

I enjoy walking through the parks and along the river that runs through the city centre. In my spare time, I enjoy crocheting and practicing yoga. I sometimes attend classes and community events related to these activities, which have helped me connect with the local community and meet new people.

“I αm currently studying BSc Psychology at Oxford Brookes.”

I hope to pursue postgraduate study in the UK after graduation to further develop my academic knowledge and research skills. In the future, I would like to build a career as a researcher and contribute to advancing psychological understanding.
