Psychology MSc
I chose the MSc Psychology program at Oxford Brookes
for its excellent conversion pathway, which allowed me to transition into the field after a career in teaching. Already with a Masters in Languages, I was looking for a shorter focused course to explore my passion for psychology. Living in Oxford made Oxford Brookes a natural choice, and the modern facilities and comprehensive course structure sealed the deal for me. Oxford Brookes offers a fantastic opportunity to dive into psychology through a well-structured, flexible conversion course.
One module that stood out was
Psychological Health and Disorders. It delivered exactly what I was hoping to study ā the complexities of mental health, research techniques, and insights into disorders like depression and sleep issues. Each lecture was taught by experts in their field, which made the experience both challenging and rewarding.
Currently, Iām conducting research
on the connection between eating habits and mental well-being in adolescent girls. This project bridges my work as a secondary school teacher and my academic interests, showcasing Oxford Brookes' encouragement of bringing professional experience into learning.
The support here has been exceptional.
My supervisor, with expertise in healthy eating behaviours, has been instrumental in shaping my dissertation. Also my academic advisor has gone above and beyond to offer guidance, even outside term time. The collaborative spirit extends to my diverse cohort, where backgrounds range from psychotherapists to personal trainers. Group projects and discussions have enriched my understanding and broadened my perspectives.
Choosing Oxford Brookes has been a pivotal step in shaping my future career in psychology.
