“With such a large number of Oxford Brookes alumni currently in Formula 1, Formula E, and other high-level motorsport championships that stemmed from Oxford Brookes Racing (OBR), I have had the chance to meet and work alongside many of them.”

“I heard about Oxford Brookes when a Spanish F1 Engineer was being interviewed on the radio.”

When he was asked about the best place to study for a career in F1, he answered with Oxford Brookes. Immediately after that, I started researching more about UK universities, and the details around Oxford Brookes network with high-level motorsport companies that resonated with my goals. I saw the Formula Student team’s success, and achieved the highest number of finishes as the top UK team; I knew this was the place for me.

“As an international student, the University offers so much support.”

They put me in contact with other international students, helping me feel at home in a completely new country. For this reason, I can confidently say that my move to the UK was as simple and easy as I could have hoped.

The largest change has been the type of city I am now living in. I used to live in a very large city in Spain with tall and modern buildings, so transitioning to a smaller, more historical city was a cultural surprise, but one that I enjoyed thoroughly. Oxford is filled with interesting venues and beautiful places to visit. Outside of my studies, I enjoy hanging out with my friends in the city centre, but also playing sports such as padel and football.

“A huge highlight for me has to be the Formula Student team, Oxford Brookes Racing (OBR).”

With such a large number of Oxford Brookes alumni currently in Formula 1, Formula E, and other high-level motorsport championships that stemmed from OBR, I have had the chance to meet and work alongside many of them. This means I have a significant amount of contacts already in the industry, so we, the team members, are always up to date with the latest developments across the sector.

Another huge advantage is the large number of events that are held with industry-relevant companies. For example, Formula 1 teams often attend the University to speak to the course cohort, where we learn about the latest industry updates, and have the opportunity and the space to ask questions that we would never usually get to ask.

“I have developed very meaningful relationships with my classmates.”

I have made friendships that I hope will last a lifetime, and this makes my life here very special. I have also built a professional relationship with my tutors, being able to confidently speak to them and reach out for help, regardless of what the topic is. They are always open to help and that makes any tough situation much easier to get through.

“Currently I am awaiting graduate role offers from the motorsport industry.”

I am open to working all over the world, but I hope for a design role based in the UK within a Formula 1 team.
