“I received an International Student Scholarship because I paid my deposit before the set deadline. This saves some money for my parents, so we could use it for other expenses.”

“I discovered Oxford Brookes when I was browsing through all the Urban Design courses in the UK.”

I was attracted to the modern architecture of the John Henry Brookes building when I first visited the Oxford Brookes website, and it confirmed my first impression of Oxford Brookes as modern, innovative and vibrant.

“Studying in the UK gives me the opportunity to explore the world the way I want.”

My lecturers are very supportive and encourage me to do extra things. I was also surprised by how flexible our time could be, if I manage my time wisely; I can live productively by studying, working, travelling, cooking and expanding my network. Our lecturers and UrbOx society often invite professionals from the industry to give lectures, talks and networking events. This helps us to understand the industry and gives us the opportunity to network with industry professionals while we are studying at Oxford Brookes.

“Living in such a diverse and international country has inspired me to look at the world in different ways.”

Even though I was struggling at times with understanding the local slang language, the British culture and humour, the people here have been very patient and supportive in helping me to blend in. As an international student, I know how difficult it is to adapt to a new culture, climate and environment. Therefore, I think living in such a multicultural community has taught me how to become a more empathetic and open-minded person.

Throughout my academic journey at Oxford Brookes, I have obtained many transferable skills like public speaking, communication, presentation and networking skills, which allow me to be confident in selling myself to the world. Not to mention the fact that English is one of the most spoken languages in the world.
