“The structure of the course provides a strong balance between academic learning and gaining practical experience.”

“While researching universities in the UK, Oxford Brookes University stood out to me.”

Its location within the historic city of Oxford, combined with convenient access to international airports, made it an attractive option. More importantly, the academic environment and the ambition of the students inspired me to join a community where I could challenge myself and grow.

“One of the first challenges I faced after moving to the UK was finding accommodation for my first year.”

Without a network of friends already studying in England, the process initially felt overwhelming. However, by exploring the university website and student Facebook groups, I was able to secure accommodation that suited both my needs and my schedule as a European student relocating to the UK.

Oxford offers a wide range of student housing options, allowing students to choose a living environment that best fits their lifestyle. Whether you prefer to live close to the city centre or near campus, there are plenty of choices available. The city itself is home to students from several colleges and universities, creating a vibrant and social atmosphere where it is easy to meet new people.

“During my second year at Oxford Brookes, I became heavily involved in the university’s rowing programme, training several times each week.”

With over 100 societies available, students can get involved in everything from competitive sports to more relaxed social groups. No matter your interests, it is easy to find a community where you feel welcome.

“In the first two years, we focused on building the academic foundations of our subject before applying that knowledge during our placement year.”

With support from the university’s placement team, I secured two placements abroad - six months in Hong Kong and six months in the Maldives. These experiences helped me develop globally relevant skills and gain valuable professional experience.

In the final year, real-world case studies and consultancy-style projects help students develop a deeper understanding of industry practices in the UK. Regular career fairs on campus also give students the opportunity to meet leading employers and explore potential career opportunities. The university’s diverse international community and the opportunity to study additional languages, also make it easier for students to pursue career opportunities around the world.

After experiencing the strong professional networks and opportunities within my industry, I am now exploring career opportunities in the UK as well as in warmer parts of the world.
