English Literature with History of Art

The course offers the flexibility to manoeuvre, to find your own voice, and voice our own opinions.

“It’s about being able to find yourself and your own voice”

I chose to study to English Literature with History of Art at Oxford Brookes because, in comparison to other courses I looked at, this course offers the flexibility to manoeuvre, to find your own voice, and voice our own opinions. Also, the city of Oxford is an amazing place.

“You can contact the lecturers easily”

I'm a joint honours student, and it was easy for me to make friends in the English Literature part of my course. The tutors are really accessible. I like that they respond quickly to queries. Just the other day I asked one of my lecturers for advice on which edition was best for a particular text, and she responded quickly and gave me detailed advice. That’s one of the things I feel is very nice.

“The study support is great”

The other thing I really like is the guidance resources that the university offers. It’s amazing that there are so many things that I can do to help me make progress with my studies. I’m still working on things like my time-management and work-life balance, in adjusting to university, but it’s really, really reassuring to have resources like that – a safety net.
