BSc Computing (Final Year Entry), 2026, Myanmar, Student
“The lecturers are approachable and supportive, which makes it easy to ask questions and discuss ideas.”
“I chose Oxford Brookes after researching UK universities with strong computing programmes.”
The university’s reputation, course modules and location in Oxford made it stand out. The final-year entry programme aligned well with my interests, and studying in a world-famous student city was something I had always wanted to experience.
Oxford is a peaceful and welcoming place to live and study. Student discounts and the bus pass make daily travel around the city affordable, and there are many societies that help students meet new people and feel part of the university community. I also joined the Oxford Brookes gym, which helps me stay active and maintain a healthy balance between study and well-being.
“Moving to the UK came with some challenges, particularly adapting to a new lifestyle.”
However, Oxford Brookes provides excellent support for international students. On my first day, the University arranged transport from campus to accommodation, which helped make the transition much smoother. Access to student well-being services, medical centres and drop-in meetings with lecturers has also been very helpful.
“Studying in the UK has been a rewarding experience.”
The course combines lectures with practical sessions, creating a balanced and interactive learning environment. I was impressed by how students use tools such as Google Drive and GitHub to track assignment development and collaborate on projects, reflecting real-world working practices.
“I have developed practical skills in programming, software development and problem solving.”
Studying alongside students from many different countries has improved my communication skills and given me experience working in an international environment. Coursework often reflects real-world scenarios, helping me understand how professional software systems are designed and built. Group projects have also strengthened my teamwork, communication and project management skills. I have used industry-relevant technical tools during my studies, which has helped me understand how global teams collaborate to solve complex problems.
After graduating from Oxford Brookes, I plan to apply for a Graduate Visa and gain professional experience in the computing industry in the UK.
