Navigating the Research Ethics Approval Process

Target audience:

  • This University Research & KE training session is mandatory for all new research-active staff whose research involves human participants, human material or personal data, as part of the First Three Years EXPLORE@Brookes programme. It is also open as a refresher to all established researchers.

Who this event is for:

Training will walk staff through the process of obtaining ethics approval from the University Research Ethics Sub-Committees, to help make your journey as smooth as possible.
 
Training materials will outline the role of the two Sub-Committees, Cross-Faculty Research Ethics Sub-Committee (CRES) and Health & Social Care Research Ethics Sub-Committee (HSCRES). It will cover the requirements of the application form and supporting documentation, the timescale for review and who can help at Faculty and University levels. It will explain what is meant by the terms "Conditional approval" and "Resubmission", and what your next steps should be to gain timely "Full approval" for the study to begin.
