Leadership at all Levels – Early Career Researchers as agents of change in open research

Leadership is a behaviour that can be demonstrated by anyone. The UK Reproducibility Network was set up to empower all those involved in the research process to bring about change in research culture.

Problems of reproducibility – and wider issues related to research culture – are well known. But bringing about change can feel daunting. In this talk, Professor Marcus Munafo (Bristol) will describe how the UK Reproducibility Network was set up to empower all those involved in the research process, at all levels, to bring about change. This is based on the principle that leadership is a behaviour that can be demonstrated by anyone, and not (necessarily) something tied to a particular position of authority. Interpreted in this way, there are countless examples of ECR leadership in open research.

This keynote talk accompanies the Oxford | Berlin Autumn School on Open and Responsible Research (OXBER). The talk will be followed by a drinks reception.
