Immersive Technologies in Practice: virtual storytelling in global research

A one-day international symposium exploring immersive technologies across the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Join us for a one-day international symposium bringing together researchers, practitioners, and educators to explore the expanding role of immersive technologies across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Hosted at Oxford Brookes University's SIM Lab on 17 June 2026, the day combines keynote and invited presentations with live immersive demos and a roundtable discussion, creating space for genuine exchange between those making immersive work, those researching it, and those teaching with it.

Contributors join us from institutions across the UK, Europe, and North America, and the programme ranges widely, from memory and trauma to pedagogy, decolonial practice, and speculative futures. Whether you're a researcher, practitioner, postgraduate student, or simply curious about where immersive storytelling is heading, this is a day designed to provoke, inspire, and connect. Attendance is open both in-person and virtually.
