“How did we all get here?”

Tyndale Community School (Year 6) and MRN Migration Project Collaboration; this exhibition traces the rich tapestry of migration in our local community.

Come and find out about the diverse migration histories and rich identity journeys of Year 6 pupils from Tyndale Community School in East Oxford. In collaboration with the Migration and Refugees Research Network (MRN) at Oxford Brookes University, artist Dr Kremema Dimitrova and a local organisation Iraqi Women in Art and War (IWAW), this exhibition traces the rich tapestry of migration in our local community.

The exhibition emerges from the question "How did we all get here?", it explores how 10 and 11 year olds make sense of their identities and local community in East Oxford. Tyndale Community School boasts over 50 different languages and has a unique dedication to inclusion and diversity.

The exhibition launch will feature short talks by Tyndale teacher Hannah Dawson, artist Dr Kremena Dimitrova, Rana Ibrahim (IWAW) and Dr Tamsin Barber, Oxford Brookes Sociologist. It will celebrate the exhibition with pupils and families and give an opportunity to find out more about how and why the work was created.

Tyndale Community School
Tyndale Community School is a Christian Ethos primary school in East Oxford and was started in September 2013 and opened a nursery this September. It is part of Oxford Diocesian Schools Trust (ODST). Community is at the heart of the school with its motto of “Aim High and Reach Out Together”. With its diverse population the school welcomes and celebrates children from all ethnicities and religions. Over 50 languages are spoken by the children and their families. Tyndale has six core values which we support children to develop in their time at the school: respect, responsibility, resilience, excellence, joy, creativity. Each of these have a superhero - Tyndale Titan - who shows the children what these values look like. Tyndale has collaborated on projects with the Migration and Refugees Network at Oxford Brookes over the past 3 years to help pupils explore questions of migration and identity.
