In November 2024, the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Network (AIDAN) hosted a major Smart Databases and AI Research Gathering, bringing together more than 60 Oxford Brookes University staff.

The event showcased the breadth and depth of AI activity across the University through poster presentations and live research tool demonstrations. Contributions spanned digital business, robotics, computing, engineering, architecture, biomechanics, health and life sciences, illustrating how open databases and advanced analytics are reshaping standards and professional practices across sectors.

The gathering also welcomed external stakeholders, including representatives from Thames Valley Police, Barclays, Barclays Eagles, the National Health Service, and Fortescue Zero. Their participation strengthened dialogue between academia, industry, and public sector organisations, opening new opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation partnerships.

The event highlighted how open data infrastructures and analytics tools are driving more transparent, efficient, and evidence-based standards in engineering and management, while reinforcing Oxford Brookes’ growing AI research community.

AIDAN extends its thanks to all presenters, demonstrators, and partners who contributed to this highly successful and collaborative event.
