AIDAN Hosts Round Table on Gamification of Cybersecurity

A digital padlock

On 20 June 2025, the Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics Network (AIDAN) at Oxford Brookes University convened a strategic Cyber Security Table Talk focused on the gamification of cybersecurity and cross-sector collaboration.

Held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, the round table brought together representatives from academia, law enforcement, and industry to explore innovative approaches to cybersecurity engagement and potential Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) opportunities.

The event followed conversations initiated during AIDAN’s earlier KTP-Athon, where external partners expressed interest in deeper collaboration around cybersecurity innovation.

Strengthening Strategic Partnerships

The round table welcomed participants from:
  • Thames Valley Police
  • Barclays
  • Oxford Brookes University

The partnerships are being developed through knowledge exchange initiatives and the exploration of potential Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) to address shared cybersecurity challenges.

From Dialogue to Action

A central theme of the discussion was how gamified approaches — such as simulations, scenario-based exercises, and interactive digital platforms — can enhance cyber awareness, engagement, and skills development across organisations.

The final session centred on defining potential KTP arrangements, identifying shared objectives, and outlining next steps for collaborative project development.

Driving Innovation Through Collaboration

The Cyber Security Table Talk demonstrated AIDAN’s role as a catalyst for meaningful partnerships between academia, industry, and public sector organisations. By creating a platform for strategic dialogue, the event laid the groundwork for future joint initiatives aimed at strengthening cybersecurity practices through research-informed innovation.
